Whe are the spots limited?

What platforms are supported?

macOS, Windows, and Linux. RAVN is a snappy native desktop app, not a web wrapper.

How "open source" is it really?

Full source on GitHub. You can fork it, compile it, or contribute to it. RAVN is not "open core" with all the good stuff behind a paywall.

Why do I have to pay for open-source software?

RAVN is open-source, which means you have the freedom to use, modify, and redistribute the code. But open-source doesn't mean free hosting or free AI services. Think of it like this: A car's blueprint might be open-source, but you still pay for the vehicle, fuel, and maintenance. With RAVN: - **The code is yours:** You can download, inspect, modify, and compile it yourself - **AI Inference costs money:** Running the AI inference costs us real money, we pay to OpenRouter and carry all the risks - **App distribution**: Creating and distributing apps for different platforms also require being member of various (paid) developer programs. **You have choice:** If you want to avoid our fees entirely, grab the source code and use your own API keys (BYOK mode)

Can I use RAVN Mail completely for free?

Yes, in two ways: 1. **BYOK Lifetime ($59 one-time)** — Buy the app once, use your own OpenAI/Anthropic/other API keys. No recurring costs, full control, permanent license. 2. **Self-host the open source:** Download the source code from GitHub, compile it, and run it yourself with your own AI keys. No restrictions, no fees. The only "paid" path is if you want us to manage the AI infrastructure for you (Starter, Pro, Team plans).

What happens if I use all my credits before the month ends?

Your operations will be blocked until your credits refresh on the first of the next month. We don't charge overage fees or automatically upgrade you. **Better approach:** Monitor your usage. If you consistently hit the cap: - **Starter users:** Upgrade to Pro for 2x credits - **Pro users:** Check if Team plans are better value if you're on a team

Can I carry over unused credits to next month?

No. Monthly credits are a time-limited allowance. Unused credits expire at month-end. **Why?** It keeps pricing predictable and prevents "credit hoarding." We'd rather you use features consistently month-to-month.
